They obviously wanted some of the CLA's success, but the main reason the CLA is so successful is that you can buy a Mercedes for $30.000, Peugeot lacks the 3 pointed star badge. Most Americans will tell you that, in the past, in the 80's America, only the uber rich had Mercs, but now every hairdresser can get one, thanks to the CLA.

The thing is that the CLA isn't that big a success in Europe. The car it's based on, the A-Class, is a bigger hit. I know the CLA does well in the US but Peugeot isn't present on the US market so US market performance is hardly relevant for Peugeot. Which is why I immediately thought of China.

Well, PSA is desperate enough to force a return to America, just to make more money and to find a place to ship the extra capacity they have, I don't know if by using GM dealerships on not, but they are still burning cash faster than they can produce them, and I'm sure that they are running out of ideas, fast.
